Are you…

Hitting some bumps in the road to healthy eating?

Struggles with feeding can disrupt normal development and impact cognitive development, physical strength, emotional and nutritional health.  Causes vary greatly and include medical, oral motor, sensory, emotional and environmental factors.  The Clubhouse is here to help create a positive mealtime experience for your family and put your child on the road to healthier eating.

Feeding difficulties can begin in infancy and can result from food allergies,  food intolerances, oral motor deficits, sensory dysfunction, pain associated with reflux and many other causes. The Clubhouse will work in tangent with your Pediatrician to sort out the root cause and provide ongoing strategies to help you and your baby develop positive feeding experiences.

Picky Eater… or Problem Feeder?

“Picky” eating is normal, and most people are selective eaters for most of their lifetime.  However, it is important to know the difference between normal picky eating and “Problem Feeding”  – which requires intervention.  The Clubhouse has specialists who can make this determination and provide group or individual support to your family.

Problem Feeders

  • Avoids entire categories of food textures and has a generally restricted range of accepted foods.
  • Strong emotional reaction to the presentation of new foods
  • Rarely eats the same food as the rest of the family
  • Frequent gagging, choking or coughing during meals
  • May have respiratory problems
  • Has/had difficulty making the developmental transitions (breast to bottle to cereal to mixed textures, etc.)

If your child is experiencing some or all of these symptoms, we can help.

Extreme picky eating can continue thru school years and into adulthood.  Diets can become so limited that it interferes with social and professional relationships, which is one of the hallmarks of a true disorder.

Here’s what we do:

  • Evaluations by Licensed Speech Pathologist and Occupational Therapists with advanced training in feeding problems.
  • Individual Consultation or Therapy
