Early Intervention

It’s never too early to get a great start!

PRIVATE OR STATE FUNDED – THE CLUBHOUSE HAS YOU COVERED!

Children between the ages of birth-3 in Illinois have two choices when it comes to therapeutic intervention. Some children qualify for a state/federally funded program called Illinois Early Intervention (EI). Families may also choose to work privately with a therapist of their choice. The Clubhouse is proud to be able to work with your family under both of these scenarios.

The Illinois Early Intervention program is reliant upon funding from the State. This funding, at times, has been in jeopardy. Our families can rest assured that the Clubhouse will remain strong and viable – regardless of what happens in Early Intervention.  We will continue to work with families in EI and those who opt to pay privately.

What is early intervention?

STATE PROGAMMING:  These services are defined and authorized under Part C of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).  The Clubhouse serves hundreds of EI families every week.

PRIVATE OPTIONS:  Many families choose to secure services for their Birth-3 children via private options.  This means that they select their providers and fund the services without the authorization and funding offered by the State.  Our State of the art center is home to many private families each week.

What is best for my family?

FAQ

Will my child qualify for the State Program?

Not necessarily….The State EI program is currently limited to children who demonstrate a 30% or greater delay.  Thus, if you chlld has a 25% delay, they will not qualify for the State Program.  Important!  The State is now considering eliminating their program for children who have less than a 50% delay.  This would severely cut out the number of families who qualify.   The Clubhouse is there for your family whether you ultimately choose the State Program or our Private options.  We are available to do your EI evaluation and support you thru the process regardless of the diagnostic or eligibility outcome.

What is the difference in cost?

Using the State program will cost the family between $0 and $200 per month, depending upon Family Income.  Securing Private services may cost more or less that the State Program, depending upon what insurance coverage you have, how many therapies you receive, etc.  The Clubhouse provides Birth-3 for Private and the State, and can help you decide which route is financially best for you.  We enjoy working with both the State and Private families!

Is my choice in Providers the same?

No.  Not all therapists choose to participate in the State EI funding.  If you use the State EI program, you will have a provider within it’s system.  If you decide to go privately, there are other providers available to you.  However, the Clubhouse therapists are ALL providers for both State and Private therapy.  So we are happy to work with you regardless of your choice.

What about Evaluations?

The Clubhouse provides both Private and State EI evaluations.  This is a very important first step, so we urge families to be proactive and carefully choose (rather than being “assigned”) an evaluator if they use the State EI program.  Evaluations thru the State program are free to families!  Please call us and we can put you in touch with your State coordinators in order to set up an evaluation.  If you choose to go privately, we can accommodate your choice here as well.  Not sure if you need an evaluation?  When in doubt – check it out with a free screening at the Clubhouse.

Are my choices in therapy different? – Yes!

This is a very important consideration.  The State program requires that almost all therapy be in the home environment.  This is a great venue for many children.  However, some families prefer to obtain their therapy at a family support center, such as the Clubhouse, and this is often not possible thru the State program.  Also, many families desire more therapy each week than is provided by the State.  In these cases, Clubhouse families can obtain the State services and also receive additional private support without leaving the exceptional family of therapists at the Clubhouse.

SUMMING IT UP

The Clubhouse believes that the family should be the decision maker in their young child’s care.  There are great options available thru the State EI program and via private therapy, but no one option is ideal for all families.  We have you covered regardless of your family’s decisions.
